Hello again. It's strange getting used to having a blog to 'update', but I'll get there. I hope you all had a great weekend and got to enjoy some of the sunshine at least. I spent Saturday cycling from various places running errands and visiting family - determined to make the most of the weather for fear the week was our whole summer. The college work will just have to wait! I now hear, however, that the good weather is to continue for this week :-D
Before we go any further with this blog thing, I have to disclose that I am a huge fan of television shows like RTÉ's Operation Transformation, MTV's I Used to be Fat and Living's Obese: a Year to Save my Life and will be seen shouting at the box when they lose a load of weight or when they go off the regime and eat loads of junk food. Needless to say, I get a bit into it. I know I should, but I don't apologise for this! I am not a fan of ITV's The Biggest Loser because it boots off some poor, fat person who was trying to change lifestyle and lose weight. Also, lots of these people obviously have emotional attachments to food so I would imagine that the first thing they do after being voted off is hit up the nearest shop for chocolate or whatever their chosen 'tipple' is. Personally, I think that's exploitative.
I don't like sappy Oprah Winfrey-esque stories either, because they're almost always clichéd, not to mention the potential involvement of Oprah herself! However, this is a great story - without being twee. (I should add a disclaimer that this is my brother's website.) This story went viral, as the article says, probably because of the blood and gore element, but became a bit of a hit due to background story. Even my mother knows about this guy! :)
That's my inspiration for today! Don't worry - all my posts won't be like this; I just thought that was a great story and wanted to share it. In future the posts will more likely involve how to fit chocolate into your day without feeling too guity, and falling off exercise equipment!
Great blog. I have a stone or 3 to lose! I will be looking forward to all your fat fighting tips.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon! I am hoping to have some posts on eating well and my favourite types of exercises. You can always test something different out and be a guest-blogger! Let me know if there's anything specific you'd like the blog to cover.
